Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the terroir.world site and the Terroir platform. By using the site, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Terroir is a community platform connecting locals (city residents) and travellers for genuine cultural encounters: shared meals, neighbourhood walks, craft sessions, evenings out, language exchanges, and stays in private homes.

Terroir is free. No monetary transaction takes place between locals and travellers on the platform. No commission is charged. No tip is expected.

The site is freely accessible. The app.terroir.world platform requires account creation, subject to a review process — community sponsorship, individual onboarding call, identity verification. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Terroir reserves the right to refuse an application without explanation.

By using Terroir, you agree to: provide accurate and up-to-date information; treat other community members with respect; not use the service for commercial, fraudulent, or illegal purposes; not request or offer payment in exchange for an encounter; honour the Local Pact (for locals) or the Traveller Pact (for travellers) when joining the platform.

Terroir relies on a bidirectional reference system — locals and travellers review each other after each encounter — and a publicly published consequences ladder detailed on the Safety page.

Behaviour contrary to community values may result, depending on severity, in a warning, a profile pause, or account deactivation.

See the Legal Notice, section 3. You retain ownership of content you publish on the platform. By publishing, you grant Terroir a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display this content on the platform and in service-related communications.

Personal data processing is governed by the Privacy Policy.

Terroir works to provide a reliable and safe service but cannot guarantee the absence of incidents or bad encounters. Each user remains responsible for their own judgement.

Terroir is not a party to encounters arranged between members and is not responsible for how those encounters unfold. The platform provides the infrastructure of the encounter, not its terms.

Terroir disclaims liability for: inaccuracy of information provided by users; events outside its control (force majeure, third-party failure); indirect damages not attributable to a Terroir fault.

Terroir reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, without notice.

These Terms may be modified. The last update date is shown at the bottom of the page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of French courts, after a good-faith attempt at amicable resolution via support@terroir.world.

Consumer users may also use the European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
